Connecting Sage Intacct lets Ask Jenny answer questions from your live Sage financials — your general ledger, AR, AP and the rest — next to your ServiceTitan numbers.
Jenny reads Sage directly when you ask, using your own Sage sign-in and permissions. Jenny never sees more than you can see in Sage.
Before you begin
Sage Intacct with two add-ons. Jenny reads Sage through Sage's AI Gateway, which Sage only opens to companies with an active Web Services Developer license and the AI Gateway add-on subscription. Both come from Sage, not UpSmith — ask your Sage account manager or Sage partner if you don't have them. See Sage's account requirements for the AI Gateway and the AI Gateway overview. Other Sage products (Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage Accounting) can't be connected.
A Sage application for UpSmith. Your Sage admin registers an application in the Sage Developer Console using your AI-enabled Web Services sender ID, adds
https://api.upsmith.ai/integrations/intacct/callbackas a redirect URI, and chooses the Production client scope. Sage's REST API quick start walks through each step. Sage emails the client ID and client secret once the application is approved.Ask us to set it up. Email support@upsmith.com. We'll send you a secure way to share the client ID and secret — don't put them in an email. Until setup is done, the Sage Intacct tile on your Integrations page shows "Sage Intacct isn't enabled for your organization yet. Contact support to set it up."
Tell us who should use it. Jenny only answers from Sage for people we've turned on. When you email us, list the admins who should have Sage access.
An UpSmith admin role and your own Sage Intacct login. Each admin connects their own. Jenny sees the same companies, entities and data that login can see in Sage — see how Sage users, roles and permissions work together.
Connect it
Go to Integrations and find the Sage Intacct tile under Accounting. Click Connect. The drawer reminds you: "Each connection uses your own Sage sign-in and permissions."
Next to Sage Intacct for Jenny ("Lets Ask Jenny read your Sage data."), click Connect.
Sign in to Sage with your usual login and allow access. Finish within 10 minutes, or start again.
You're sent back to UpSmith and see "Sage Intacct connected". The row shows Connected.
You only need Sage Intacct for Jenny. The second row, Sage Intacct REST API ("For integrations that call the Sage Intacct REST API."), is a separate connection. Only connect it if we ask you to.
Jenny reads the Sage company and entity you signed in to. To read a different one, click Reconnect and sign in to that one.
What connecting actually gets you
Live financials in Ask Jenny. Ask about revenue, receivables, payables or any account in your general ledger, and Jenny looks it up in Sage at that moment.
Sage next to ServiceTitan. Ask questions that need both, like "How does last month's booked revenue in ServiceTitan compare with what we recognized in Sage?"
Your permissions, not more. Jenny reads only what your Sage login can read. A teammate with a narrower Sage role gets narrower answers.
Jenny only reads from Sage. She doesn't post entries or change anything there.
Turning it off
Click Disconnect on the row and confirm: "UpSmith will disconnect this Sage connection for your account. Your other Sage connection and other users' connections are unaffected. You can reconnect later."
This only removes your connection. Teammates who connected their own stay connected.
Troubleshooting
There's no Sage Intacct tile. Only UpSmith admins see it. Ask an admin to connect, or to change your role.
"Sage Intacct isn't enabled for your organization yet." We haven't finished setup for your account. Email us to start.
"Sage Intacct connection failed. Try connecting again." The Sage sign-in didn't finish — often because the window was left open more than 10 minutes. Click Connect again. If it fails again right away, email us; the Sage application on your account may need fixing.
The row shows Connected, but Jenny doesn't use Sage. Either we haven't turned Sage on for you yet, or you connected Sage Intacct REST API instead of Sage Intacct for Jenny. Check which row says Connected, and email us if it's the right one.
Jenny says "Sage financial data could not be retrieved. Try again later or reconnect Sage Intacct." Try again. If it happens on every question, the usual cause is on the Sage side, and reconnecting won't fix it: either your company doesn't have the AI Gateway add-on, or the Sage application we set up isn't tied to an AI-enabled sender ID. Check both with your Sage account manager, then email us. If both are in place, click Reconnect next to Sage Intacct for Jenny.
"Sage authorization scope changed; reconnect." Your Sage login now points at a different company, entity or user. Click Reconnect and sign in to the one you want Jenny to read.
"Sage Intacct access is turned off for your organization." Sage has been switched off for your account. Email us to turn it back on, or click Disconnect.
"Organization admin permission required." Only UpSmith admins can connect Sage.
Common questions
Does Sage data get stored in UpSmith? No. Jenny reads it from Sage each time you ask. We store only your Sage sign-in token, encrypted, so Jenny can make those reads. Disconnecting deletes it.
Does every admin need to connect? Yes. Each admin who wants Jenny to answer from Sage connects their own login, and we turn Sage on for each of them. Members can't use Sage in Jenny.
Which Sage role does my login need? Your Sage user type and roles decide what Jenny can read: she sees only the companies, entities and records your login can see. Sage explains this in how users, roles and permissions work together. Sage's MCP server covers Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, General Ledger, Purchasing and Order Entry (Sage AI Gateway reference).
